A Marathon for a Cause

Today was the New York City Marathon, an exciting day for running fans (like me)! While watching the broadcast on NBC, there was a segment that discussed a group of people running the marathon for a certain cause. That cause was to honor those who died on Flight 93 on 9/11. I thought it was a wonderfully inspiring story.

One of the relatives of one of the heroes from that day said that, "this is about honoring the courage and the sacrifice of the people who stand up for what's right in our country." It's very nice that this group of people came together under the sport of running to honor such a remarkable cause.

Another family member running for the cause described the Flight 93 passengers like this: "They never quit. [And] my intention [during this marathon] is to not quit."

The NYC Marathon is a spectacular day marked with fulfillment. What a great sight!

I remind you this: keep your eye on your goals, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. If you have your heart set on something, go for it. For example, running a marathon. Thousands of people have the goal of completing a marathon and it takes an unbelievable amount of courage and determination to do so.

But, this is not always about a marathon, but about life. Live every day standing up for what you believe in. Trust what your gut tells you, and then go for it.

Be a person that acts with determination. Make an impact. Remember: some people will come into your life, leave an impression on your heart—and you will never be the same.
