Fail Your Way to Success

Yes, here on the blog that is The Purple Otter, I tend to have a tone that is excessively positive. I tend to tell you that everything is going to be okay. I'll cleanse you with vibes that say "you can do it!" I'll plant seeds in your head that scream unrefined confidence.

Time to step away from that. There comes a time for every person that vibrates with positivity to take on the destructive mindset.

Don't think I don't see you. Yes, you. You're afraid. You're terrified. Trembling, moping...over...whatever. We all do it. And this is where it gets GOOD. I'll take to Facebook, that will make things better. I'll tweet my heart away, because Twitter can be my perfect amenity. It may be your friend. Maybe, your best friend. It can be anything. You explain to these comfort-helpers that you really are just not going to be able to do it. How you're not good enough. Everything is going to be just fine, they'll tell you. Some aimless nods and smiles will gratify your many excuses for whatever is ruining your day/week/life.

So, since "everything is going to be just fine," you move on. Maybe you don't. Maybe you quit on yourself. You just put it behind you...you move on to the next day.

You enter a never-ending circuit of doubt. This random loop of these miraculous explanations that "fix it all." All the holes get filled in. You're all better. But this loop of excuses will just make you feel worse.

You're stupid.

You're going to give up.

Yeah. HA! No.

Shut up.

Really, though. Please be quiet for a moment. Stop thinking for a second.

Take the blabbering voice in your head. The one funneling excuses. Yeah, that one. The one with random seemingly clear explanations that keep getting jammed down your throat.

Kill it. Stop it. Wipe it out. Cram a damn brick down its throat.

It is not okay to smother your failure with excuses.

Everyone fails. Failure is a necessary part of life. But, quitting. Quitting. Is not the same as failing.

Failure is defiant. Quitting is what a coward does. Do not quit. If you must fail, you will fail with pride.

You think you're the only one that fails? MEET EVERY PERSON ON THE DAMN PLANET.

It's time for you to try and feel good about failure. It's time for you to try and accept a new beginning. It's time for you to try and leave the past behind you.

At least when you fail it means you did something. You are growing as a person. You are being the better person. You did something. But, yes, you failed. We all do.

Onward with your life. Move forward for goodness sake. And I am going to tell you what you are going to do:

Stand up tall. Lift your head. Tell your mind to get yourself out of this endless pit of disaster that you may feel like you are grappled to for eternity. Take a leap of faith. No one can hold you back anymore. You're on top of the world. You need to give yourself much more merit than you think you are worthy of. There is hope. Everything might be okay, or you may go through a bit of a rough patch. But, you're going to find it within yourself to not let things get the best of you.

You can do it.

I believe in you.

Move on.

Maybe you will fail. Maybe you will succeed.

Fail your damn way to success.

Failure teaches success.

And through all this, at least you will know that you did not quit.

Now get to it.
